N2 - In this paper a rigorous analysis of the linear stability for two classes of methods, both generalizing the trapezoidal rule, is done. The information on the coefficients of the methods, useful for the analysis, are obtained by an extensive use of properties of the Pascal matrix, some of which are derived in this work.
