Abstract
The paper offers a new philological and literary interpretation of Philodemus AP XI 30, advancing a conjecture: at line 4, read ἠμιθανὲς κεῖται instead of the manuscript text ἠμιθανὲς θνήισκει. The paper also discusses the interpretation of P. Oxy. 3724 iv 30.
