Ricostruzione filologia dell'influenza di "Rome and a Villa" di Eleanor Clark sulla composizione dei diari e dei racconti italiani di John Cheever. Il saggio affronta il tema del disorientamento culturale di Cheever durante il soggiorno italiano, i rapporti con la comunità di "espatriati" Americani a Roma, e il problema metodologico di teorizzare la circolazione di idee, metafore, immagini tra gli scritti dei due autori. Philological reconstruction of the influence of Eleanor Clark's “Rome and a Villa” on the composition of John Cheever's Italian diaries and short stories. The essay addresses Cheever's cultural disorientation during his Italian sojourn, his relations with the American “expatriate” community in Rome, and the methodological problem of theorizing the circulation of ideas, metaphors, and images between the writings of the two authors.
