Abstract
The treatment of drug-sensitive tuberculosis has high effectiveness, yet many patients have suboptimal drugs exposure, possibly explaining treatment failures and selection of resistance. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence and determinants of antitubercular drugs suboptimal Cmax. METHODS: An observational study was conducted in patients receiving first-line anti-tubercular treatment. At two early time points (T1 and T2) blood samples were withdrawn 2 hours post-dose (maximal concentration, Cmax) and drug concentrations measured. Data are expressed as medians (interquartile ranges).
