Abstract

This chapter presents a large number of responsive Gd3+-based or paramagnetic chemical exchange saturation transfer (PARACEST) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) probes with potential utility for molecular imaging applications. The chapter provides some representative examples of MRI contrast agents that are responsive to physiological parameters such as pH, temperature, redox status, the presence of biologically relevant ions, and enzymatic activity.
