Through the critical part of the edited text, we point out the textual repeats of the French version based on the Latin tragedy, through the Latin edition of 1541 that circulated in France, parallel to that of 1491, and which was certainly Brisset's working instrument at the heart of his translation/re-elaboration of the Senecan source. The comparative study, based on a methodology for philological analysis of the classical reference text, as well as the analysis on Brisset's Middle French, on the ideological slides from the source text to the French version, highlight the work that Brisset builds on the Latin language and, on the other hand, that the French author does on French prosody. The six sections of the introduction that precede this critical edition contextualize the author in his time, give information on the structure of this tragedy, provide hitherto unknown data on the life of Brisset and the characters mentioned in the opening plays, as well as examples of the author's approach to the Latin text, as well as examples of the author's approach to the Latin text, to lead to an example of his translation laboratory.
