Abstract

The charged particle distributions dN(ch)/deta have been measured by the NA50 experiment in Pb-Pb collisions at the CERN SPS. Measurements have been done at incident energies of 158 and 40 GeV per nucleon over a broad impact parameter range. Results obtained with two independent centrality estimators, namely the neutral transverse energy E-T and the forward energy E-ZDC, are reported. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
