Abstract
Active labor market policies (ALMPs) have seen a strong development in the last decades across the vast majority of western countries. Italy has undergone a similar process, however, until the last decade the existing ALMPs remained largely implemented at the regional level. Processes of centralization are ongoing, as well as the creation of a body of ALMPs operating at the national scale, but these are still in their initial phases. Therefore, the role of the regional administrations in ALMPs remains relevant. This paper illustrates the effects of a successful ALMP implemented in the Region of Piedmont, named «Buono per servizi al lavoro». This study aims to contribute to the debate on ALMPs, and presents a series of policy insights relevant on regional and national scales.
