Abstract

The optical properties of a fully inorganic light emitting nanostructured host-guest system for device application were investigated to the aim of finding a correlation with its structural properties. The investigated system consists of a film of layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets impregnated with thiol-capped CdTe nanocrystals emitting at 580nm. Our investigation revealed that radiative recombination of carriers inside the structure is in competition with non-radiative relaxation processes, as evidenced by Photoluminescence Excitation spectra. Time-resolved analysis of light emission allowed identifying the time scale of both NC-NC interactions and NC-host interactions which are responsible for non-radiative relaxation.
