Abstract
[Machine translation] The article examines some aspects related to the economic life of women's monasteries in the early Italian Middle Ages, in the period between the 6th and 10th centuries. A profile of the development of this aspect is drawn in a diachronic sense, while at the same time evaluating how much the importance and the difference in scale of the various monastic centers can affect the construction of a more or less extensive heritage, in particular in relation to the foundation (directed or attributable to a minor aristocracy). One of the possible specificities that seem to characterize women's monasteries is represented by the activity of weaving, of which there are also material traces, although rare., The contribution adopts an interdisciplinary approach, in which the discourse on written sources is intertwined with the reference to the archaeological record, in order to help provide food for thought on an even more general level, such as that of women's history, analyzed here according to the particular angle of women who live in religious communities.
