Abstract
The law of current Western societies appears very different from the predictions Weber made at the beginning of the twentieth century. In particular, the thesis of the inevitability of the formal rationalization process of law and the unstoppable progress of positivistic ideology has been disproven. Despite these forecasting errors, due to Weber’s modernity, his approach to the law (interdisciplinary, historical, comparative and cultural) remains a valuable legacy for today’s legal scholars, as convincingly demonstrated by sociologist Realino Marra in a recent and important book.
