Abstract

[Machine translation] Within Rémy Belleau's vast poetic production, the translation into verse from Greek of Aratos' Phenomena is particularly important. This version, on the one hand, makes a little-known classical text accessible to the public; on the other hand, it represents a very interesting translation/re-development laboratory, through which Belleau, based on the classical model, contributes to the enrichment of poetic language, at a time when debates on the problem of translation and imitation are becoming central. A comparative analysis with the Aratos model was developed in order to assess, from a linguistic, stylistic and literary point of view, the adherence to the Greek text and the original interventions of the French author, especially in the direction of the Christianization of language and lexicon. In addition, the question was also raised as to what extent Cicero's Aratea (Latin translation of Aratos' text) and other Latin texts could have been an intermediary for Belleau's translation.
