Abstract
[Machine translation] Scipione Ammirato's “Discorsi sopra Cornelio Tacito” (Florence, Filippo Giunti, 1594) enjoyed a certain publishing fortune, giving rise to 6 Italian editions and printed translations into Latin and French. The first Castilian version, anonymous and handwritten (BNE, Mss/8577), and neglected by critics, is studied here; likewise, the underlying model is detected (the Venetian edition of 1607) and some stylistic features of the version are analyzed, which intended to Hispanize Ammirato's aulic prose and most likely must have been prepared for printing. Finally, hypotheses are formulated about their authorship and dating, as well as their origin based on the letter of Amanuense.
