Abstract

Within a wider interest about the presence of late prose writers as sources for the collection of Scholia, this paper examines the explicit quotations of Solinus in the Supplementum adnotationum super Lucanum. Three passages of the Collectanea rerum memorabilium are trascribed in three different scholia: one dealing with durae nodus hyenae, an ingredient of Erichto’s filter in book VI (v. 672), another with the mention of the bull Api (VIII 479) and the third with pyramids (VIII 697). Isidorus’ Etymologiae are implicitly implied in all of these scholia, and their text comes sometimes mixed with, and sometimes flanked by Solinus’ words. The codes Guelferbytanus, Parisinus, Berolinensis and Monacensis (aADR) appear nearer, while the codex Vossianus (V) contains largely independent scholia. In the Commenta Bernensia only one passage of the Collectanea is transcribed, in a scholion to the first verse of the poem (per Emathios … campos), but only in the codex Bernensis 45 and without Solinus’ name. Also in this case Isidorus’ Etymologiae are implicitly implied.
