Abstract

Primary ocular adnexal lymphomas are among the most common neoplasms affecting the ocular adnexa. In particular, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) is the most common histological subtype, accounting for about 60-70% of primary ocular adnexal lymphomas cases. They are slowly growing orbital masses that can be asymptomatic or associated with localized symptoms, such as proptosis, diplopia, ocular dysmotility, periorbital swelling, ptosis, pain, and blurring of vision. It may be difficult to differentiate from benign reactive lymphoid lesions. Therefore, it is crucial for surgeons a thorough knowledge of their diagnostic process. The purpose of this article was to present the diagnosis process of a peculiar case of an orbital MALT lymphoma.
