Abstract
In a time of increasing tensions and challenges around gender, religion and sexuality, this paper takes this issue with particular reference to LGBT people. For this purpose, three different models of freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) in international law are considered. The aim of the paper is to reconstruct how the progressive overlap between FoRB and sexual orientation has shaped the traditional power of religions over sexuality. This is done via a vocabulary test that is intended to explore the legal meaning of documents by the United Nations (UN) between 1948 and 2021.
