Abstract
Levetiracetam (LEV) is one of the newly introduced antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) that showed to be effective in the monotherapy of partial with and without secondarily generalized seizures. We report on the effect of the intravenous administration of LEV on interictal epileptiform abnormalities (IEAs) in patients with symptomatic focal epilepsy. In the majority of patients we observed a 50% reduction of IEAs in terms of frequency, duration and scalp distribution. Intravenous LEV showed to be effective and well tolerated.
