Abstract

We studied the threshold to magnetic motor cortex stimulation in 20 subjects affected by idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Ten normal subjects acted as controls. Threshold was significantly higher among epileptic patients, both those treated (n = 12) and those untreated (n = 8) with antiepileptic drugs. During the spike-wave complexes, motor evoked potential size showed marked inhibition, without distinction between stimuli falling in correspondence of the spike or the wave.
