Abstract
I distinguish two kinds of philosophical approaches to Mental Modeling: (i) approaches based on the idea of an underlying omni-comprehensive causal network, and (ii) approaches which relativise the construction of causal models to the context of inquiry. I analyse how the two approaches can be related to the choice of the interpretation of causality and probability.
