Abstract
The behavior of a series of metal/ligand systems in adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry was investigated. Attention was focused on two groups of ligands, namely seven naphthalene-hydroxy-azo sulfonic species and four quinolines. The behavior of the free ligands and of their complexes with four metal ions, namely Cd(II), Mn(II), Ni(II) and Pb(II), was studied at different pH values. The results are discussed with reference to ligand structures and complex stabilities. The main use of these data is to choose, or discard, a ligand in an analytical application, to predict the behavior of species with similar structures or to get information for other electrochemical techniques.
