Abstract

Exploring the copious tradition of the Latin Creed, rich in micro-variants, the essay identifies the Summa Theologica of Alexander of Hales as the probable direct (or at least proximate) source of the Symbolum apostolorum transmitted by the Setenario of Alfonso X (ley XLII) and the Primera Partida. At the same time, it evaluates some methodological choices, likely useful in clarifying the relations between the two works.
