Description
The EPPOFAPR in Law Winter School focuses on the European Public Prosecutor's Office investigation on EU fraud affecting public revenue and the future lawyers' skills. The EPPO is a systemic part of the overall architecture put in place to protect EU taxpayers’ money and defence the rule of law in the EU. The impact of these traits is also evident in our professional lives and, in particular, in the way we view lawyers' roles and how we try to embody them. This EPPOFAPR in Law Winter School focuses on (future) lawyers’ skill development and diversity in legal industry. The participants will make an evidence-based journey through several topics that are relevant for today and tomorrow’s new lawyers' approach to criminal investigation in the EU. The courses focus on (future) laywers’ development with regard to self-awareness of this new prospective in criminal investigation (EPPO structure and organisation), soft skills (communication and inclusion skills) in order to relate to this new European body, and decision-making skills. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to meet with experts in the field to discuss some EPPO active investigations we have identified and the most frequent types of crimes affecting the EU budget. At the end of the journey, participants will have a theoretical background and practical experience with the foundational skills of this new organisation, its operational processes, precedents and best practices.
