Abstract
[Machine translation] The essay studies the presence of wine in exemplary medieval Castilian literature, examining a corpus of works belonging to the field of storytelling and to that more properly typical of the exempla collections. We evaluate the properties that the alcoholic beverage (presented with generic traits, in these traditions) exhibits compared to medieval wisdom or encyclopedic texts, and the narrative - and more often didactic - function that it assumes. Although it mostly offers a pernicious vision, in a multiple and varied case series of the damage it causes to body and soul, wine sometimes also figures as a simple element of medieval social life, but always depending on the ideology of which the individual work is the bearer.
