Abstract
[Machine translation] The 11 essays in which the volume “Villastellone. Paths of history and memory of the community” offer a series of specific reconstructions on some specific aspects, characters and places of Villastellone, such as the birth of the villanova built on the initiative of the Municipality of Chieri (1229-1236), those of the noble Villa di Villastellone family, the history of the municipal coat of arms. A considerable part of the book is aimed at investigating the history of Borgo Cornalese and the role that Eugène-Alexandre Laval-Montmorency and his wife Constance de Maistre played there during the nineteenth century. The volume is completed by the anastatic reprint of the text “Brief historical notes on Villastellone written on the occasion of the 7th centenary of its founding 1203-1903” published in 1903 on the initiative of the theologian parish priest Giovanni Aghemo. The book is accompanied by a hundred images, mostly unpublished, relating to historic places in Villastellone, but also a reproduction of documents and works of art coming, among others, from the Royal Library of Turin, Palazzo Madama, the State Archives of Turin, the Georgetown University in Washington, the Military Geographic Institute of Florence.
