Abstract
[Machine translation] The text presents the history, heritage, functional perspectives for use and research of Villa San Remigio (Verbania, VCO), received as a subloan from the University of Eastern Piedmont by the Piedmont Region in 2021. Conceived today as an UPO heritage with a museum character, by virtue of the movable assets contained in it, and together as a public asset, the Villa is the repository of an interesting story, which unfolds from the mid-nineteenth century to today and which the short essay outlines in broad strokes, offering ideas for future research. In particular, the Author reconstructs, in summary, the salient phase of the construction of Villa and Gardens (1896-1916) by the marquis Silvio della Valle di Casanova (1861-1930) and Sophie Browne (1866-1960). It also identifies the traits that denote both its cultural and historical-artistic characteristics. It then poses the question relating to the choices made by the two architects of the project, addressing the issue of the cultural matrices of their 'business'.
