Abstract
[Machine translation] The theme of travel has had great success in historiographic reflection, and is, moreover, very relevant even in our contemporary times, characterized by intense migratory phenomena and an impetuous revolution in transport and mobility. This volume intends to offer a review of contributions on the subject, starting from a comparison between young Italian and foreign researchers, who, according to different sensitivities and points of view, address a chronology that goes from the ancient world to the nineteenth century. Discussing some of the perspectives that have crossed the debate in recent decades, the contributions address heterogeneous areas, from the experience of diplomatic travel, to movements dictated by religious reasons, from the relationship between mobility and economic-commercial networks to the more general implications of traveling in the relationship between different cultures.
