Abstract
OBJECTIVES. To document a particular localized form of hypercementosis affecting an upper second molar. MATERIALS AND METHODS. After tooth extraction with a flapless surgical technique, multiple calcified projections were observed on palatal radicular surface. The uncommon nature of the sample has motivated the further histological evaluation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS. Hypercementosis is defined as an increased cementum deposition on radicular surface which may involve a single tooth or multiple teeth. This case report documents a particular localized form of hypercementosis, characterized by multiple cement wormlike projections. Histological evaluation revealed a multi-slice structure of the cementum, compatible with a local stimuli tissue reaction.
