Abstract

Some physiologic (startle reflex) and pathologic (hyperekplexia and reticular reflex myoclonus) conditions share a spontaneous, action and stimulus-induced generalised myoclonus. All appear to rise in the brainstem reticular formation. We report a man with postanoxic encephalopathy, in whom aspects of reticular reflex myoclonus and hyperekplexia coexisted.
