Abstract
[Machine translation] The “spectacular” development of urban tourism is not only the expression of the spontaneous creativity of actors involved in the sector and not even of the inspiration of established archistars, but in the most successful cases it frequently constitutes the result of a conscious and rational practice of public planning and its articulation along the supply chain of local authorities. Today, this finding is even more plausible insofar as not only the major stakeholders but the different components of local communities are called to contribute to programmatic practice, through an innovative and fruitful shared and “bottom-up” approach. , This is a process in progress that also involves many small and medium-sized cities, capable of activating strategic design paths and therefore creating the optimal conditions both for constructively dialogue with higher administrative levels and for placing themselves on the market in an attractive way and intercepting profitable segments of demand. , These are the general considerations that arise from the multi-year collaborative experience of a group of geographers from the University of Eastern Piedmont with the Department of Tourism and Sport and Territorial Policies of the Piedmont Region. This contribution aims, in particular, to analyze and retrace some territorial programs and projects of post-Olympic Piedmont in which - due to the characteristics of the context and the instances of local and regional development - the specific initiatives set up and/or proposed and the related underlying guidelines are declined in an unprecedented taxonomy.
