Abstract

[Machine translation] Trame Transatlantic tells the circulation of literary cultures between Italy and the United States after World War II. Starting from specific case studies relating to writers and writers, intellectuals, publishing companies, agents, literary events and objects, promotional styles, the volume draws an unpublished map of the relationships that favored the circulation of Italian art, literature and culture overseas between 1949 and 1972. The transnational perspective and the interdisciplinary approach of the research make it possible to highlight a little-known segment of post-war cultural history and to expose the network of mediations between actors of different kinds who have been able to intercept the attention and taste of both cultural elites and the descendants of the millions of Italians who emigrated to the United States from the 19th century onwards.
