Abstract
Englert's vacuum solution, where the non-vanishing three-index photon of d = 11 supergravity parallelizes the seven-sphere, is reformulated in terms of a constant SO(8) tensor. Its residual bosonic symmetry is found to be an SO(7) subgroup of the original SO(8).
