The protection of the adult and the respect of his or her autonomy in Italy: a legal system in transition

Abstract

The article addresses the questions related to private law directed to the protection of vulnerable adults. After a review of the relavant data regarding vulnerable adults in Italy, the articles analyzes the three protective measures granted by the courts: interdizione, inabilatazione and amministrazione di sostegno. The discussion is then directed to the analysis of this measures in relation to the empowerment of elderly persons. The final part is devoted to the role of law for aged persons during Covid pandemic.
