Structure-activity relationships in the partial oxidation of methane to formaldehyde on Fe-x/SiO2 catalysts

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The effects of the preparation method on structures and dispersion of FeOx/SiO2 catalysts have been investigated by DR-UV-Vis, FTIR and TPR measurements. The efficiency of the preparation route based on "adsorption-precipitation" of Fe2+ (ADS/PRC), in enhancing the oxide dispersion is ascertained. The performance of ADS/PRC catalysts in the partial oxidation of CH4 to HCHO (MPO) is compared with that of conventional systems obtained by "incipient wetness" of silica with aqueous solutions of FeIII (INC/WET). The ADS/PRC method, enabling a higher dispersion of the active phase, provides very effective MPO catalysts.
