Seidel e sozzini. un incontro mancato?

The study of the brief exchange of letters between Martin Seidel and Fausto Sozzini, which enjoyed some publishing success in the 1600s, reveals interesting aspects of the laborious process of building Europe's philosophical modernity. On a hermeneutical level and on that of philosophical theology, the Deism of the semi-judaizans Seidel, which emerges in both the letters and in his recently republished major work, Origo et fundamenta religionis christianae, seemed incompatible with the overt Aristotelianism of Sozzini, who wanted to strengthen institutionally the church of the Polish Brothers. Despite its harshness, the exchange did nonetheless allow space for possible agreements, which were to come to light only later in history.
