Abstract
[Machine translation] Now in its third Italian edition, the Manual of Political Science aims to provide a timely and updated picture of the multiple transformations that have affected the field of political science in the last decade. Thanks to the contributions of some of the most important international scholars of the discipline, the volume represents unique in the current Italian publishing scene in terms of structure, methodological approach and originality of its contents. Keeping faith with the use of the comparative method that allows the study of political phenomena through an empirical approach of testing and control of research hypotheses, the volume addresses a much wider range of topics than traditional manuals, extending the field of investigation to emerging economies and modernizing states. This edition, extensively revised and updated, is complemented by an extensive session available online that hosts three additional chapters and three appendices dedicated to country profiles (the most important countries in the world, at different latitudes), global socio-economic and political trends and statistical data useful to deepen and complete the issues addressed in the manual. The new Italian edition of Political Science is therefore proposed as an introductory manual to the discipline that offers a systematic and complete picture of the subject, allowing an in-depth analysis and understanding of contemporary political phenomena in all their complexity.
