Abstract
[Machine translation]The contribution examines the monastic presence in Piacenza, rediscussing some historiographical myths about its precocity. The attestations of the written sources, available starting from the Longobard Age, are analyzed and then followed by the developments of monasticism in the city through the Carolingian expansion and the founding of the monastery of San Sisto by Empress Angilberga. The urban monastic presences of other non-Piacenza monasteries (Santa Giulia di Brescia, Bobbio, Nonantola, San Vincenzo al Volturno) are also taken into account.
