Abstract

[Machine translation] Through the study of the preface to Le Premier Livre du Théâtre Tragique by Roland Brisset, here is offered a critical edition of this opening text, which is an example of a theory of tragic development in the first half of the 16th century in France, which is part of a corpus of theoretical plays helping Renaissance researchers to rebuild the complex modern tragic laboratory, as well as its aesthetic tension based on the requirement of absolute respect for the ancient model and the necessity of absolute respect for the ancient model. to build a modern notion of tragedy, beyond that Greco-Roman sources. In this perspective, a philological and theoretical investigation at the same time on the opening plays of the first plays of Roland Brisset's Tragic Theater makes it possible to broaden the critical look of studies on this central problem of Renaissance aesthetics and to have a more precise and articulated awareness of it.
