Abstract
[Machine translation] The pandemic has made us aware of the importance of institutional action aimed at protecting individual health and public health not only in crisis situations. Even more important, is the need to be prepared (mostly indicated with a technical term that is difficult to translate into Italian, preparedness) for possible future health emergencies. In these two years, awareness of the importance of prevention in healthcare has undoubtedly grown. We have realized that the defense of health begins before the onset of a possible illness and requires the ability to prevent (and to predict) the effects of the ecological crisis on our lives. The defense of public health is inseparable from environmental policies, just as the life of human beings is inseparable from that of the other forms of life with which we share the planet.
