Abstract

The reaction of Ru₃(H)(CO)₉(MeCCHCNMe₂), having an allyl moiety σ-π bonded to the triruthenium frame, with diphenylacetylene yields Ru₃(CO)₈-(PhC₂PhMeC₂CH₂NMe₂), containing the 1-(dimethylamino)-3-methyl-4,5-diphenylpentadiene ligand coordinated to an intact triruthenium triangle. The organic ligand acts as an overall 8e donor to the metal triangle via σ-π metal-carbon bonds and a σ metal-nitrogen bond.
