Abstract

The short-term results (average follow-up = 8 months) achieved in 15 patients, who underwent shoulder prosthetic replacement for either degenerative-inflammatory or traumatic pathologies, were evaluated. Clinical assessment was performed on the basis of the Constant's rating scale: the mean total score increased from 20 (range, 6 to 34) preoperatively to 49 (range, 12 to 80) at follow-up. Only in one patient pain did not subside after surgery, while the functional results showed significant differences in relation to the pathology treated.
