Abstract
[Machine translation] The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the world of tourism, internationally as well as nationally, both in its capacity as a sociocultural phenomenon and, at the same time, as an economic sector., In the wake of an unprecedented crisis, tourism by large operators, numbers and flows has suffered a sudden and unexpected setback, triggering or accelerating some dynamics of transition in the models of governance, of the organization of supply, of the definition of demand. The trends that have resulted, still in progress today, have revealed how and how the discovery of slow tourism — in contact with nature, respectful of external as well as personal environments, spaces and times, through the exploration of secluded, or marginal areas, compared to traditional circuits and widespread and unconventional heritages — has opened up new valuable opportunities for sustainable development in Italy, albeit with some critical issues., , In this way, approaches to slowness and proximity to territories have been better outlined, based on the involvement of the inhabitants and on the activation of sedimented intangible resources, through which to prepare proposals capable of responding to and motivating the emerging “experiential tourism” overall understood as a strategic resource for the economic and employment revival of small Italian centers, peripheral and internal territories, of the territorial systems in which they are inserted and of which they are part., Starting from these considerations, also driven by the global events of recent years, it is possible to observe how numerous activities have been established and expanded, including being able to identify some good participatory practices for the revitalization of smaller, rural and mountain areas. Established on the principles of collaboration and participation between local and superlocal stakeholders, on new promotion perspectives related to the specificities of resources and territorial values and on different plans for tourist enhancement, they represent both observable paths and their results in relation to the design of new trajectories for integrated planning for the development of territories in a sustainable and digital way., The primary objective of this contribution is to propose a brief but significant reinterpretation of some policies, strategies and initiatives that, starting from the phases that preceded and up to those that followed the pandemic event, have distinguished themselves by being a sign and reminder of the need for decisive changes towards an expanded, systemic and responsible management of territories and their potential. Potential inherent, sometimes hidden or unexpressed, functional to innovative and diversified methods of knowledge, enjoyment, attraction: a geography of “small” asset components deposited in “small” contexts that become a source of social cohesion, cultural learning, tourist re-activation. The contribution focuses, in particular, on four cases of supralocal and multilevel agreements and agreements.
