Abstract
This contribution aims to analyze critically Italian cultural landscapes in the World Heritage List, exploring the processes of territorialization linked to the institution of WH Sites. In detail, the paper focuses on the effects of the listing, in terms of creation of networks of actors, changes in the rules of management and protection of the landscape, diffusion of representations linked to the patrimonialisation of landscape. The hypothesis is that the institution of a WH Site should be as a territorial project, ruled by networks of actors that use heritage as a resource for achieving their objectives. The research uses an innovative theoretical and methodological approach in the field of cultural heritage studies, integrating the concepts of territory, territoriality and territorialization, with a topological relational perspective and about the relations between places and between scales.
