Abstract
[Machine translation] The Alpine region is, undoubtedly, the scene of great changes and transformations that, over the millennia, have shaped, from a geomorphological and climatic point of view, the changing ecosystems and the varied landscapes that compose it. The strong consequences of anthropogenic settlements have overlapped with environmental stresses, which have followed one another, generating intense processes of territorialization and asset storage. Fragility and resilience that are intertwined along development paths that are increasingly less linear and more related to the re-affirmation of identity and local forces (Salsa, 2019, Restelli, 2021). Talking about Alpine identity means, in fact, telling of a story that has become geography, first physical and then cultural; it means grasping the essence of these processes to interpret the dynamics of rural, urban, tourist and protected mountain territories; it means knowing and studying the living spaces in which cultural resources have settled and communities recognized., The Alpine arc therefore presents itself, today, as a context in which the dialogue between nature and culture expresses the characteristics of adaptation, conquest, research and innovation. Questioning these two sides leads us to reflect both on the mechanisms that govern the physical dimension of the landscape, and on those that are the basis of the human dimension and on their interrelationships. It is through this fruitful dialogue that we can read the landscape, passing through its capacity to contain, animate and promote initiatives and projects that make the Alps a permanent laboratory for development.
