Abstract
[Machine translation] The article considers some of the oldest testimonies of the Christian presence in Piacenza. They are rather scarce, but among these, the octagonal baptistery emerges, now disappeared, but documented by nineteenth-century reports and surveys, drawn up on the occasion of its discovery. The examination attempts a reconstruction of the structure, in a perspective of comparison with other similar buildings in the Mediterranean and Western areas, proposing some new elements for the chronological and cultural framing of the artifact.
