Abstract
[Machine translation] The volume, the result of a PRIN PNRR 2002 project with the same title (University of Pavia-PI, of Eastern Piedmont and Accademia Belle Arti di Brera), focuses on the reuse of stone materials, particularly marble, between Roman and modern times. It focuses on the phenomenon of reuse in the ancient world between the Mediterranean and European space, taking into particular consideration northern Italy and the two sample areas of Vercellae and Mediolanum. A final section is dedicated to the methods for analyzing the reused artifacts examined in the Project and to the prospects for musealization and enhancement. The text is characterized by a strongly interdisciplinary perspective, with approaches that touch archaeology, archaeometry, law, the history of written sources, art history, museology and museography.
