Abstract
δ13C values, Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase and glycolate oxidase activities were determined in Vetiveria zizanioides Stapf. (Vetiver) a graminaceous plant native to tropical and subtropical areas. The results obtained allowed us to state that V. zizanioides possessed a C4 photosynthetic mechanism, which was retained at high levels even when the plant was cultivated in humid-temperate climates.
