Abstract

[Machine translation] For the Italian school system, the integration of foreign minors and the creation of a multicultural environment is certainly a challenge, crucial (Elia, 2014). School is a relational space in which young migrants socialize and acquire cultural traits different from those, shared in the family context. The interaction of different cultures determines processes of exchange of material and intangible practices and the, creation of feelings of multi-territorial belonging (Pollice et al. 2017)., Starting from the data and reflections of the PRIN field survey “The Italy of Others. Geographies and governance of immigration between territorial roots and transnational networks” we will investigate the methods of constructing multi-ethnic contexts and the sense of territorial belonging of young people with a migratory background. In particular, some of the empirical analysis of field research have highlighted the potential and critical issues that distinguish the action of young migrants both in their relationship with the host territory and with the educational institution and in the interaction with the host culture and that of the place of origin (Lazzeroni, Meini; 2019)., The contribution focuses on the relationship between migratory phenomena and geographical contexts, trying to interpret the processes of integration of the foreign population in schools, of different orders and grades, present in the city of Novara.
