Abstract
[Machine translation] Starting with the Basaglia law, approved in 1978, Italian regions have developed heterogeneous models for the care of psychiatric patients. Some regions have invested resources in the development of territorial services while others have opted for strengthening the supply of beds in hospital psychiatric wards, with the consequence that the process of taking care of psychiatric patients in general, and schizophrenic in particular, seems more dictated by the regional structure of supply than by the needs of demand. The work focuses on three regions, Lombardy, Lazio and Sicily, and analyzes the average absorption of resources for the admission of schizophrenic patients, highlighting differences in care paths and in the use of resources between the different levels of care.
