Abstract
[Machine translation] In the text, the figure of Antonio Adriano, farmer and intellectual, emerges as that of a researcher committed to safeguarding the material and intangible heritage of the peasant tradition. His photographic production is not only a monument to memory, but a real act of political resistance against the oblivion and eradication imposed by modernization. Through his shots, Antonio Adriano offers a critical reading of the social, cultural and economic transformations of southern Piedmont, strongly highlighting the 'ecological fracture': the transition from polycultural agriculture to intensive monoculture. This change has not only impoverished biodiversity, but it has erased an entire system of knowledge based on gesture and speech. His photographic archive thus transcends the simple documentary value to become a 'library of memory', an essential tool for critically interpreting our present.
