Abstract
[Machine translation] The contribution examines the sonnet “Capel Bruno, High Forehead”, written by Manzoni in 1801 in imitation and emulation of Alfieri's self-portrait in verse, noting that the 16-year-old poet could have known that text before the Molini edition of the Alfierian rhymes, considered terminus post qui for the composition. He then examines a previous version of the sonnet that has so far been ignored, transcribed by Giambattista Pagani, the young Manzoni's college classmate. He then analyzes the self-portrait sonnets of Foscolo and Manzoni, hitherto considered by Gavazzeni and subsequent scholars as interdependent, supporting the contrary hypothesis. Finally, in addition to the different formal and psychological nuances between the three texts, already illustrated by critics, it focuses on the strong ideological differences between the authors, which can be seen especially in the closed of the sonnets.
